Context: I very much enjoyed the first two instalments of Dark Gallifrey, the Monk/Nun – very unsuual, boundary pushing episodes, very much looking forward to finding out how this all ties together! (I know I reviewed episode 1, did i do 2?? i know I listened to it..anyway, lets go to three anyway, apologies for the lack of review consistancy!)

What I thought:
Really liked this one, where we find the Nun and Monk out of their depth and losing the plot (both psychologically and literally!) makes for a great listen. The call for help, from the Doctor of course, was perhaps a bit predictable but the fact it is the 6th incarnation of the Doctor which turns up is a perfect version to deal with these meddling, pesky timelord renegades. The story evolves to explain that the baddie here is some mysterious gestalt-psyhcic monster which latch onto radio broadcasts and hencve the content/styole of the story. This is great fun, and the 6th Doctor is perfect for dealing with the threat (and setting them right/telling the monks off in the process as well), with the Monk ending up being somewhat heroic in order to save his future (and the Nun as well). Not sure there was any direct mention/links to Dark Gallifrey here, but that aside this three part installement works for me and this part 3 in particular ties everything together nicely for this Monk-y based triliogy, more Nun and Monk adventures please.
Rating: 4 out of 5 laughter tracks: There are still lots of classic moments and interetsing ideas in this one, with the whole ‘monster as audio drama’ working very well. Colin B is great in this, and the 6th Doctor is perfect for this story. Nice rounding up of this DG Monk trilogy. Lovely stuff
What am I left thinking?
- How the devil is this related to Dark Gallifrey?!?!
- More Monky related shennanigans will always be welcome
- How all of these disparate stories tie together, assuming they ever will tie together??
Memorable bits
- Keystone cop-esque chases
- The heroic Monk
- Radio plays as the protagonist, what an ingenious idea
