Context: not much to add here, other than I like these 13 Doctor adventures and I remember the last one being pretty good, with the Doc and Yaz determined to find the tourist! Onward….

THE REVIEW

What I thought: this one was great fun, with an interesting story focused on a civilisation of robots that create fake human personalities and make the robot warriors believe they have families etc (I think that was roughly it). Makes for an interesting moral dilemma. There are some great scenes between the Doctor and Nikos (arms dealer antagonist of this adventure) as well as with Yaz and the tourist, yes we have finally discovered who/what the touris is (SPOILERS) an immortal ‘concept/weapon’ that doesn’t really know what they are and desperately wants to be a companion to the doctor.

There are some great scenes between the tourist and Yaz here. They have a serious of ‘battles’ across a weird mind scape, cue to clashes in Yaz’s past, back to being a police women in Yorkshire. This is a mid-season finale so the Tourist is wrapped up here (I suspect said banishment/dispersal won’t be forever, and we will see them back in the next run of adventures). I am intrigued to see where we go next.

Rating: 4 out of 5: another solid addition to this run of 13 Doctor adventures and a mid-season finale/pause. I do think a change of pace is in order for the next run of 6 episodes though, another villain who is perhaps more physical and less conceptual, perhaps we need some old school baddies to mix things up a bit? Or maybe a villain (surely the Darwhan master will turn up at some point).

What am I left thinking?

Memorable bits

• Great scenes between Yaz and the Tourist
• The morality of arms dealing dealt with really well here, with some sad robot deaths
• More brain in a jar stuff here as well, returning to the company that had weapons grade capitalism in its armoury
