What I thought:

2.1 Collaborators by Katharine Armitage – great start to this boxset, with both the resistance and the timelords trying to get a new ally on board for each of their respective causes. The resistance is growing in power and resource, now able to challenge directly Gallifrey’s war plans. Some great stuff here between Leela, Narvin and the General, with a great guest character in prince Ferdi. Some very good scenes, which lead to dilemas for all the team. Lovely stuff.

2.2 Remnants by Georgia Cook – this one is a very exciting episode, with the return of the Beserker Dalek, lots of them this time. We have Leela, Veklin and the General on a mission to answer a Timelord distress beacon, which sets up a fast paced, claustrophobic adventure of high jeopardy, with the Daleks manufacturing Beserkers from the human remains of the crew. Grim war stuff throughout this one.

2.3 Transference by Fio Trethewey – this one is a return to Gallifrey and an assasination attempt of a promising new scientist, who did great stuff in destroying the Beserkers in the previous episode. We get visits to Lowtown, an otherwise unknown part of gallifrey and the return of Narvin, who has his cousins with him! Its a great story this one, with Leela playing a key role as the bridge between the warroom and the resistance. Lots of great stuff on Narvin and why he is resisting the war, with tragic consequences at the end of this episode. Great stuff.

2.4 Ambition’s Debt by Katharine Armitage – so this is a shocking final for the boxset, with Ollistra putting her own plans in motion in order to take over the War room, manipulating Leela, the general and Vecklin, branded as traitors at the end of the episode. The story itself breaks down into a follow up on the aftermath of the last couple of episodes, with a political chess match being played, with Rasmus and Vecklin manipulated for Olistra’s purposes. Great ending.

Rating: 4 out of 5 political moves – another very strong boxset, with the Daleks almost taking a back seat with a focus on the resistance and political shennanigans on Gallifrey. By the end we have Ollistra on top, Rassilon in the background and our heros painted into a corner. LOVE IT.

What am I left thinking?

• How on earth do we get out of this?
• Romana, are we returning to her in the next set?
• Daleks, more of them next time?

Memorable bits

• Ollistra is amazing here, a real political mover who will do anything to gain power and win the war
• Narvins cousins and past, his house on gallifrey etc
• Love a beserker dalek!
